Every day, business enterprises and the own human behavior are impacted by new technologies. In the coming years, these transformations should be led by issues such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Virtual reality, health monitoring, disappearance of technology and technology with purpose, aim the study Changes of Tomorrow performed by Hyper Island Business School and that involved interviews with 100 market leaders. Among the clients of the institution, founded in Sweden, is Unilever, Google and Target.

According to the survey, in 10 years, we will see the multiplication of AI, in which intelligent algorithms will automate simple human cognitive tasks allowing faster and intelligent decisions.

Are the machines being prepared to assist in the creative process. The AI becomes even more interesting because the algorithms does not exist the question of prejudice and fear of presenting new ideas, which is usually some common to human beings in the process of brainstorming. “If the machine is capable of generating a greater repertoire of ideas that a group of people, we can start with that and then bring humans to see which are applicable, consistent and with business potential”, suggests the Director for Latin America of the Hyper Island, Nathalie Trutmann. One of the expected consequences of this is that, by means of artificial intelligence, it is easier to move beyond incremental innovation and create new things.

Another impact of technology on people’s lives will be migrating to virtual reality indeed. The perspective is the simulation of the physical world through the virtual reality will become more common and well resolved because it will be open to small developers and experience of the sensors. The study on Changes of Tomorrow reveals that the use of technology in health care will become mainstream. The analysis of personal data will be common through devices that capture health data such as heart rate and blood glucose levels. Another trend is what the survey called the disappearance of technology that, in fact, is nothing more than the idea that these news are already as present in everyday life which will be almost imperceptible.

Nathalie cites the smart watches, which already hit the market but which, according to her, still aren’t even close to having the relevance that can achieve in the coming years. “The technology is increasingly part of the body of the people and it begins to generate a new way to communicate with the devices, how to raise your hand to turn a link instead of using the screen of the device”, exemplifies. Not to mention that in some countries, as in Sweden, are already being tested chips inserted into body of persons to perform actions such as making a payment or open a door. “What today can still seem a thing of the future, it’s already happening and with smaller barriers.”

The fifth and latest trend pointed to the study’s purpose-guided technology. Although the world remains driven by sales and profits, people want to engage with brands that meet a very specific need or represent a greater purpose.

To advance, companies need to empower employees

The digital age has required a dramatic transformation in the business models of the companies. In addition to the financial challenge is the constant learning about this new world and the quest of the roads that lead to a better use of the benefits that technology brings. “There is a multitude of blind spots that demand more power decentralization, empowerment of employees, greater integration of teams and the creation of more confidence,” says the Director for Latin America of the Hyper Island, Nathalie Trutmann.

One consequence of this is the construction of a new leadership model, in which all companies must feel responsible for finding the answers to the given problem. “We need people who undertake the role of seeking the best answers and which does not delegate it to the bosses,”he says.
