An atoll is a ring-shaped coral reef that surrounds the water area. Coral reefs are common in tropical and subtropical latitudes, and most widely – in the Pacific and Indian Oceans… and so on. Such a boring definition of an amazing natural phenomenon can be read in encyclopedias. It goes without saying that it does not reflect the amazingly beautiful picture that the atolls are in reality. Miimu Atoll is one of the most beautiful atolls in the Indian Ocean. Just imagine a silvery ocean expanse glaring in the sun, with many green islands, most of which are uninhabited. This is an amazingly beautiful underwater world, playing with all the colors of the rainbow. These are unusually original local traditions, cuisine and way of life. And most importantly – it’s a wonderful holiday. See Citypopulationreview for weather in the capital of Maldives.
Miimu, a cozy atoll in the form of open shark jaws, has about 35 picturesque islands, 9 of which are inhabited. But only two islands are adapted to receive tourists, they have all the necessary infrastructure, including a dive center. And this means that the atoll has a lot of uninhabited, quietest and most picturesque land areas.
The atoll with the mysterious and viscous name of Miimu is 47 km long and about 30 km wide.
How to get there
Flights from Russia are made only to the capital of the Maldives, the city of Male. From there you can get to the atoll by seaplane to the main reception island (about 40 minutes; distance from Male 140 km), then 5 minutes by boat to the hotel.

Hotels
There are also exactly two hotels on the atoll: located next to each other Medhufushi Island Resort and Chaaya Lagoon Hakuraa Huraa.
Attractions and attractions in Miimu
Of course, the main attraction and goal of most travelers coming here from all over the world is the beautiful warm sea and the unique nature of the atoll. You can enjoy it both passively, that is, relaxing under the sun and from time to time plunging into warm waters, and more actively. Fortunately, the possibilities for both options are very, very diverse. For example, you can go on a safari tour of the local islands in order to learn interesting details about the life of the indigenous population, to observe the difficult daily and routine work of sea workers – local fishermen. Helps safari and get to know the diverse and vibrant world of flora and fauna of Miimu.
Depending on the desire, this exciting journey can be done both on jeeps and on bicycles. In any case, a lot of bright and pleasant impressions are guaranteed.
Another, very pleasant option for recreation involves getting to know not only the surface part of the islands of the atoll, but also the richest local underwater world. Here it is possible to go from island to island on a white yacht, while periodically mooring, walking on it, after which, after a little snack, it is supposed to be fun with a hard-to-pronounce name snorkeling, in Russian speaking diving with a tube and a mask.
Diving
In the surrounding waters, there are excellent conditions for diving: not only professionals, but also beginners will find something to do. Those who do not have enough “native” sites are always ready to take speedboats to popular diving sites. Indeed, under the water at Miimu, an amazing, completely different world is spread, as if visible from a bird’s eye view. Canyons, grottoes, caves, between them schools of fish, which are painted in absolutely all the colors of the rainbow in the most bizarre combinations: huge and small, flat and thick, you won’t meet anyone here! You can see elongated moray eels, huge sailfish and even sharks.
