With the 800 MHz band already in use by the three operators which have license (Movistar, Vodafone and Orange), mainly in large cities and towns with large numbers of tourists at this time, the war of figures on the 4G coverage continues, now being turn Orange.
French announce us now that their LTE already reached 80% of the Spanish population, focusing the deployment in large populations and as no, coastal areas. But besides updating figures, Orange has also updated us objectives: 85% of population coverage at end of year and 95% by the end of 2017.
Orange brand continues its deployment of 4G at a good pace. And it is that as at March this year its coverage reached 70% of the Spanish population, at the end of June coverage already came to 80%. This strong growth is due to the incorporation of all cities with at least 25,000 inhabitants and 265 coastal municipalities.
Plans for the future
While Orange 4G coverage has grown by 10 points in less than half a year, now comes the harder work, After having covered the largest populations. So the French LTE reaches 85% of Spaniards will have to wait until the end of the year, when all municipalities will now be covered with at least 10,000 inhabitants.
Afterwards, will take another two years (end of 2017) for the 4G of Orange reaches 95% of the population. No doubt, the task in hand is to reach these populations, which because of its size, has always taken more to receive the latest networks, whether fixed or mobile. That task should be facilitated with the 800 MHz, but we will see making that band with the various operators.
